Café du Monde’s game does not come from anywhere. The Beignets are delicious and it’s coffee reminds me of the “cafe con leche” that we Latinos drink. Due to Covid precautions the lines can be large but they move fast and the waiting is worth it.
(as of 11/23/2020) The rave is all about the beignets, but I think people are eating the hype and not really tasting it. Yes it is hot, but it is just dough w/ powdered sugar on it. The sad part is that the dough is NOT fluffy and airy. it taste like a powdered sugar donut. We bought a bag to try out and sat across the street in front of the park to enjoy the jazz music but wasn't "wow'ed" like others are. Consider what you're ordering and we're explaining it, fried dough that is not airy, just light, not airy, with powder sugar on it. Overall, it was okay. Try it if you like, the price is decent.
Loved it, perfect for after the bar. Got me hooked on chicory coffee. Open 24hr and at the perfect spot in the french quarter.
A very long line, however definitely worth the wait. Very reasonably priced and great tasting beignets.
Always busy. Always worth the hastle.
If you like coffee and donuts then you will love this place. Beignets are yummy! And the coffee is really his too.
Its coffee and a beignet, wasnt overly impressed but it has more to do with the historical facts and say you went!
Beignets and coffee was an amazing duo. The beignets are wonderful and served fresh. The scenery and setting is beautiful and gives Frenchy ans authentic NOLA vibes. The area it is located in in beautiful and full of artwork, music, and shops.
My beautiful wife's first trip to New Orleans and it has not disappointed yet great night last night even through a pandemic and started the day off with some Cafe Au Lait and some Beignets for breakfast.... Great experience even in the middle of a pandemic... Social distancing rules aside we had great service and great food i do recommend you check it out if your in the french market area.
Great place to relax and watch the sights in the Quarter.
Coffee and fresh powdered donuts.
Always an amazing Stop. Beignets and coffee.
Great place. Love the Beignets. The local street band was good too.
Very good Staple in new orleans Coffee and Beignets are a must!!!
One of the most popular eating joints/cafe in New Orleans. It is most famous for it’s French Beignets(square piece of dough, fried, sprinkled or covered with powdered sugar) and Cafe au lait. I can bet that both these items are worth the long queue and wait and will definitely bring your tastebuds some adventure. It is one of the most iconic and legendary cafe to visit in the French Market. U can also buy their Beignets dough and coffee in the shop alongside.( Late in putting the review as I visit back in 2019 and would definitely be visiting again once the pandemic settles down)? P.S. the Birgnets are in the pic but coffee in pic might not be Cafe au lait(don’t remember which coffee I ordered, u can check the pic online for it)
A must visit but they need to go back to fresh & table service.
Had an order of Beignet. It must be an acquired taste...too much dough for me ! Maybe if the squares were a little smaller?
First time at this local legend spot, I had the typical 3 beignets which were fresh and so tasty.
Beignets, coffee, and hot chocolate to get the day started at Café Du Monde. He fought me the entire walk here and swore up and down he wanted the Best Western breakfast instead, and then his eyes lit up he bit into one and I wish I had the camera on him when he did! Excellent food and the line moves super fast.
Everyone is wearing masks. But it’s still pretty crowded with long lines to order food. The beignets are just as good as I remember them from many years ago. The city still has a charm.
This place requires a stop EVERY time you're in NOLA! Still the same place I remember. If you've never been, you need to go next time you're in town!
Super famous cafe in the French Quarter with tasty beignets and coffee. Great spot for people watching
It's a must on your trip around the city. It was cold outside and the coffee is hot. The benigets seemed to be a little overdone and not as fresh as I've had in the past. The pigeons were warming themselves on the ceiling fans right below the heaters. The sounds of a man's trumpet were billowing through the building. Maybe when you get so popular, you think the freshness of your product doesn't matter anymore...it still does..yet I still come. The staff was probably doing their best with the cold constantly battling their efforts.
THE place to go in the French Quarter. If nothing else, this place is a MUST VISIT AND BUY place. Been here many times and always the same great service and products. (Watch the coffee....it'll put hair on your chest)
There was a line when we got there but it went by very quickly, I was impressed. The beignets are to die for, especially warm.
It's an institution for over 200 years so what can you say. Beignets are excellent but there are other shops around the quarter that also have wonderful Beignets without all the wait and tourists. (Such as Cafe Beignet - which also has the wonderful chicory cafe and cafe au let and boasts some incredible breakfast egg sandwiches.
I was told this was THE place to go when visiting New Orleans. It was my first time trying a beignet. I didn't understand the hype. They were REALLY good though. I also enjoyed the cafe au lait.
A bustling cafe in the French Quarter that’s been around since the mid-1800s. They’re famous for their beignets. My friend and I stopped here on our way out of New Orleans. I ordered three beignets and a cafe au lait. Everything was pretty good! Not incredible, but pretty good. It hit the spot. Prices aren’t bad either. I’d suggest coming early (within 45 minutes of opening) to avoid large lines.
Absolutely love this place! Good food good environment, all around a great stop!
Being serenaded by Great local music on the sidewalk. The beignet was above average and the coffee was average. But it’s a 200 year old establishment and a must have if you’re in town.
Cafe Du Monde is well known for its beignets! Be prepared for LINES though. We went in January 2021 and they are taking COVID precautions, there is no inside seating but there is plenty outside. Traveler tip: there is a takeout window on the right hand side of the long line in front - it’s usually shorter BUT note the Cafe only takes cash. The beignets are good, heavily coated in powdered sugar but were warm and fresh !
Really do you need review to go to Cafe Du Monde, just go and enjoy!
4th time new Orleans Always went there Covid might have taken the charm out of the dining in but still the ambiance was there. Be prepare for lines. And yes damn worth the wait.
Awesome But it's Cash Only, FYI
The beignets are delightful! I feel like this is a right of passage in New Orleans. Definitely stop by here WITH CASH! It's cash only. Also don't let the line intimidate you, it moves quick!
Tastes like regular donuts to me or an elephant ear. Nothing special
Lots of hype and anticipation Cafe du Monde delivered I absolutely fantastic
The wait was only about half an hour, so not terrible. Well worth it for the beignets and hot chocolate!
Smaller then last time plus not as fresh sitting in a box by the window
Awesome snack, don't wait in the long street line unless you wanna sit and eat
Great shopping experience , great deals !!
The line was crazy long & because of COVID, we were not able to see the menu until we got up to the order window. We were a bit rushed to make a quick decision on what we wanted. Coffee is average. Beignets are fantastic. Cash only.
Honestly, they’re not good. Not only is the place dirty and not following COVID restrictions, it’s just not good. They’re not fresh. Go to Café Beignet if you want good beignets.
Even during Covid, the beignets are served hot and fast to go. A must for every New Orleans trip.
Great 20 years ago, great today. Bad for you but soo good!
An icon. There are no better beignets and no one does an au lait like this place. Wait in line if you have to, but get an order (or three!) with an au lait if you are ever nearby.
Greasy place to enjoy beignet and coffee with jazz music!
Great place no doubt about it. Please enjoy small clips/picture captured during our visit
those beignets are awesome ?
Great place. Always go here when in town
